Easter: Shout Out To Tinsley plus Easter/Passover Recipes Below(I’m moving to New York)

March 30, 2010

When I, Renee Ashley Baker, was a little girl (at Easter) I always had two things: An Easter Basket (complete with white bunny) and a handbag to match the pretty dress my mother would buy for me from Stix Baer & Fuller or Famous Barr in St. Louis, Missiouri. (By the way Tinsley did you know that the wife of one of the founders of Standard Oil used to volunteer in the new born infant ward at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis Missouri? (Barnes Hospital in St. Louis Missouri is where I, Renee Ashley Baker, was born). And Tinsley did you know that Topper’s family attended college at DU/University of Denver? (DU is where I, Renee Ashley Baker, attended college). Anyway–Tinsley–I’d like you–to design a handbag especially for me. I want the handbag to be a lunch/dinner/high tea handbag. I want the handbag to be:
(a) Clutch size.
(b) In pink or white.
(c) Hand painted or silk screened with two figurines–a Chinese man and a Chinese woman.
(d) Have a long gold chain to hang over my shoulder….)

THANKS….P.S. I, Renee Ashley Baker, will reside in New York City (and in Monaco Monte Carlo where I will headquarter my charitable foundation: Special Olympics 2….)

plus….Happy Easter….

TO TWEET OR NOT TO TWEET….

AT RESTAURANTS: “Sending text messages during a meal is telling your dining companions that they are not as important or as interesting as the person on the other end of your Blackberry. If it is absolutely necessary, excuse yourself from the table”
–Katie Lee Joel, author of The Confort Table

IN MEETINGS: “The only time using a Blackberry in a meeting is acceptable is if you are waiting for a crticial, pertinent e-mail. In general, avoid temptation by not bringing it in the first place”
–Jane Lauder, senior vice president general manager, Origins

IN BRIEF: “Too many text-speak abbreviations in one message is annoying, not LOL funny.”
–Lisa Sugar, founder and editor in chief, Sugar Publishing

BY MISTAKE: “If you send a catty message to the wrong person, don’t try to spin it or cover itup. Make a simple apology and move on. And don’t beat yourself up–everyone has had a digital slipup”.
–Heather Cabot, Weblife editor, Yahoo

RE: WHEN AND WHEN NOT TO BE CRITICAL

It was during that summer that Steven Spielberg had that tv show for new and undiscovered filmmakers that I posted a comment, on the TV show’s website, “criticizing” the filmmakers–all of the filmmakers–on the show.. My comment was immediately deleted –automatically deleted from the website. I was told, by the site’s webmaster, that the “site” only wanted “constructive criticism”. True– my criticism was not constructive–it was an all out full blown verbal attack. Attack on BIG MOUTHS and BIG HEADS. I was trying to tell these future filmmakers to curb the mouth and the ‘attitude’ and put it on the screen instead. You see I’m from the ‘old school’ –the George Stevens, John Ford, John Huston, John Frankenheimer. The school of make em laugh, cry and laugh again. The filmmakers made me ‘feel nothing’ and this is WRONG–WRONG–WRONG! Anyway–I haven’t heard anything from any of the filmmakers from the tv show but I hope they’ve changed their ‘attitude’ and thereby improved their filmmaking. Congrats to “The Hurt Locker” for winning Best Picture…. AND….
