HISTORY MONDAY: HE’S HOTTEST

September 17, 2007

                                     Elmo

 Definition: St. Elmo’s Fire

St. Elmo’s Fire is an ‘electrical weather phenomenon’ known as ‘The Flames’.  These ‘flames’ are named after Saint Erasmus of Formiae who is the ‘Patron Saint of Sailors’.  The ‘flames’ mean different things to different sailors.  To Russian sailors ‘the flames’ are Saint Nicholas.  ‘The flames’ are depicted in literature.  In ‘Ludovico Ariosto’s’  14th century poem ‘Orlando furioso’  the flames are described as bringing ‘hope of calmer airs’…and…in “Moby Dick” as you’ll recall it is ‘Starbuck’ who sees ‘the flames’ and cries, “Look! Aloft!”.  In Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”  ‘the flames’ appear as ‘evidence’ of the tempest afflicted by ‘Ariel’…and…in the comic book “Tin Tin in Tibet by Herge” it is Captain Haddock’s ‘ice axe’ that is ‘hit’ by St. Elmo’s flames….(scroll down)

Dear Dannielynn:

I have written a song for you Little Dannielynn Hope Smith Birkhead.  I am granting you ‘cover rights’ to the song when you reach the ages of 13-15 (in case you want to become a singer and ‘work in showbusiness’).  If–If–I decide to ‘allow’ the song to be recorded/covered before you (Dannielynn Hope Smith Birkhead) reaches the ages of 13-15  I will have the song recorded/covered by Disney’s ‘Aly & A.J.’.  Of course, I will publish the song through my own publishing company which I will set up and call ‘RAB/Blonde Skin Music Publishing’ (to be located in Washington DC).   I, Renee Ashley Baker, will ‘retain and control’ all recording/cover rights to the song and I, Renee Ashley Baker, will ‘retain and control’ all publishing rights to the song.  (Note: I will NOT ACCEPT $2 million dollars for any songs that I,  Renee Ashley Baker, have written.   Songs that I, Renee Ashley Baker, have written are NOT FOR SALE.  Therefore “no” to Madonna and “no” to Madonn’s company (because–I can’t stand Madonna).   And “no” to Whitney Houston (because I can’t stand Whitney Houston.)
