While doing a story on “China human trafficking” (for Al Gore’s “Current TV”) Laura and Euna were arrested by North Korean Border Guards. They were “accused of being spies”, then tried, then sentenced to 20 years “hard labor” in a North Korean prison….
However, as they say, their plight culminated in a “happy ending” and Lisa and Euna returned to U.S. soil this morning…. To Bill Clinton, To the U.S. State Department, and To the U.S. Secret Service: “Their mother thanks you, their father thanks you, their sister thanks you, and “I” thank you”…..

NOW….WHAT ABOUT “REAL” SPIES?

Were Laura Ling and Euna Lee ‘real’ spies? I, Renee Ashley Baker, think “NOT”. It would have been a stupid–a ridiculous–move for the U.S. Army to “make” these two American journalists spies. Why? Because two Asian American journalists are “too obvious a choice”. They’d be suspected. Right? Besides –the U.S. Army (CIA) has spies, real spies, seasoned spies. They (the CIA) “don’t” use amateurs. Spies–as you may know–have a serious history that goes back to Biblical times. However–the most “famous” spy that ever lived is probably Buster Crabb…. Buster Crabb was a British Royal Navy frogman and MI6 diver. Buster vanished, in April 1956, on a reconnaissance mission around a Soviet cruiser….(Buster, as you may or may not know, was the “role model” for super spy/super agent James Bond….
